Criminal Justice and Immigration Bill

JCWI's critique of the proposed 'Special Immigration Status'

Hands clasping prison bars

JCWI had a number of concerns relating to the Criminal Justice and Immigration Bill and lobbyed on the Bill as it passed through Parliament. See JCWI's Briefings on the Criminal Justice and Immigration Bill (click here).

JCWI were also particularly concerned about a proposal in the Bill for a new 'Special Immigration Status' that could be applied to 'foreign national prisoners' who are liable to be deported but cannot be removed from the UK on Human Rights Grounds. See JCWI's article below for further details.
