Saying goodbye to our old home

For almost 40 years, our staff and volunteers have been based at 115 Old Street in Central London. Over the years we've worked in this iconic building to help tens of thousands of people to get documented or stay documented, to become citizens and to receive justice. It was also the first home of our partner organisations ILPA (the Immigration Law Practitioners Association) and BID (Bail for Immigration Detainees).

Why are we moving?

In recent years it has become harder and more expensive to maintain this 150 year old building. We want to make sure our growing staff and service users have a safe and accessible space in which they can work well together, and the cost of making these essential improvements to our home on Old Street is simply too high for a small charity. So, in 2019, our Trustees agreed to start the process of relocating JCWI into new premises.

When are we moving?

We moved out of our home at 115 Old Street at the end of May 2021. Since then, most of our staff have continued working from home and we have been holding meetings with clients and service users across the road at Shelter (88 Old Street). A huge thank you to Shelter for housing us over summer! Our new office opened in September 2021.

People (and organisations) move! But it takes hard work and a lot of resources to build a new home.

Every day we stand with people whose lives are being put on hold, or put at risk, by our cruel immigration system. Please support our work with a donation today.
